Summary

FIELDCHECK is a local-first app for marking up and measuring PDF drawings. You do not need an account. We do not run analytics, advertising or tracking, and we do not receive your documents or your markups. Your files stay on your device, or in the cloud storage you choose to connect.

Data on your device

FIELDCHECK stores on your device the documents you open or create, your markups, measurements, comments, tool sets and settings. On iOS and Android this is the app's private storage; on iOS your documents also appear in the Files app under FIELDCHECK. In a browser it is the site's storage for FIELDCHECK. This data never leaves your device unless you save or share it somewhere yourself.

Files that other apps send to FIELDCHECK ("Open in", "Share", "Open with") are copied into the app's storage so they can be opened.

Camera, microphone and photos

FIELDCHECK asks for access to the camera, microphone or photo library only when you add a photo, video or audio markup, or save an image. The photos and recordings become part of your document on your device. They are not sent to us. You can withdraw access at any time in your device's settings.

Cloud storage you connect

If you connect a storage service (Dropbox, Box, Microsoft OneDrive or SharePoint, Google Drive, Citrix ShareFile or a WebDAV server), FIELDCHECK signs in with that provider and transfers the files you choose directly between your device and the provider over an encrypted connection. The access tokens are stored on your device and deleted when you disconnect the account. Your use of a provider is governed by its own privacy policy.

For Google Drive (web version), Box and ShareFile, the provider requires a server-side step to complete sign-in. FIELDCHECK sends the one-time sign-in code to our token service (TODO (owner): token service URL), which passes it to the provider and returns the tokens to your device. The service does not store tokens or file data. TODO (owner): confirm what, if anything, the service logs and for how long

Web version and hosting

When you use FIELDCHECK in a browser, or install it from a browser or the Microsoft Store, the app's own files are downloaded from our web host (TODO (owner): hosting provider). Like any website, the host processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the files requested, in order to deliver the app. We do not use this data to identify you or to build a profile. It is kept according to the host's standard log retention (TODO (owner): period). The iOS and Android apps contain all their files and do not contact our host.

What we do not do

  • No account, sign-up or profile.
  • No analytics, advertising identifiers, tracking or data sales.
  • No access to your documents, markups, photos or recordings.
  • No sharing of personal data with third parties, except the providers you connect yourself as described above.

Children

FIELDCHECK is a professional tool and is not directed to children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your data stays until you delete it. Delete documents in the app; disconnect a storage account in the app's settings; remove everything by uninstalling the app or, for the web version, by clearing the site data for FIELDCHECK in your browser. We hold no copy that would need deleting.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA), you have rights to access, correct or delete personal data and to object to its processing. Because we do not hold your documents or a profile, most requests are answered by the controls above. You can always contact us at TODO (owner): privacy contact email.

Changes

We will update this policy when the app's handling of data changes, and change the effective date above. Material changes will also be announced in the app's release notes.
